IMPACTED TOOTH: it’s the tooth that has didn’t erupt fully or partly to its correct position within the dental arch and its eruption potential has been lost.
UNERUPTED TOOTH:it’s a tooth that’s within the method of eruption and is probably going to erupt supported clinical and picture taking findings.
MALPOSED TEETH :A tooth unerupted or erupted that is in AN abnormal position within the jaw or within the mandibular bone.

- Mandibular third molar

CAUSES OF IMPACTION
LOCAL CAUSE
- Obstruction for eruption
- Lack of area
- Ankylosis of primary or adult tooth
- Nonabsorbing, over maintained tooth
- Nonabsorbing alveolar bone
- Ectopic position of tooth bud
- Dilaceration of roots
- Soft tissue or bony lesions- pathology habits.
- SYSTEMIC issue
Prenatal causes- heredity
- Postnatal-tuberculosis, anaemia, ricketts,malnutrition.
- Endocrinal disorders of thyroid, endocrine, pit.gland.
- Hereditary- coupled disorders- osteoporesis, cleftpalate.
INDICATION
- Recurrent pericoronitis- is that the inflammation of the animal tissue encompassing a crown of a partly erupted tooth.
- Deep dentistry pocket- related to partly erupted tooth.
- Prior to dental medicine treatment- to regulate the tooth situation within the mandibular bone.
- Prevention of root biological process and tooth decay.
- Prevention of pathological fractures.
- Management of cysts and tumors. symptom of odontogenic origin, Management of preprosthetic issues, Prophylactic removal
SIGN AND SYMPTOMS
Pain, problem in manduction, paresthesia of lip, Swelling of retro-molar tissue, Soreness, Erythemia of overlaying soft tissue or plate, Trismus, Facial swelling of the affected aspect, Raised temperature, Regional lymphodenopathy.
RISK OF NON INTERVENTION
- Crowding of dentition
- Resorption of adjacent tooth and dentistry standing
- Development of pathological conditions like infection, cysts, tumors.
